    Harold
and Allene Westover began building renaissance period instruments
about 40 years ago. Viol da gambas, Lutes and Harps were just a
few of the instruments built in their New Hampshire shop. Harold
designed the instruments from old paintings and

historic harps, including the
3 octave, Flemish lap
harp. Origionally
built for both teachers and students this portable harp became popular
in the growing field of Music and
Harp Therapy and is now referred to as the Therapy Harp.

     For
me, harp building began in 1994 under the tutelage of Joellen Knight
who worked with the Westover's for 5 years. It was not long before
my passion for both woodworking and music led me |
|
to build harps under the Westover name. In 1998,
we began the process of renovating a new
home
for Westover
Harp. My wife and I purchased a building in Holyoke, Massachusetts
and after 3 years of renovations we have moved into our new studio
at 417 Main Street in Holyoke.
